Super Sentai Series

The set of characteristics that make us a sentai series are as such:- A team of people who have the ability to 'transform' into a 'battle mode' in order to fight a group of bad guys. This 'battle mode' usually consists of a jumpsuit and a helmet, but has powerful properties that shield it's wearer from extreme damage and give them enhanced physical attributes. also, the bad guys have the ability to change size that means the good guys also need a way to combat that.
Super Sentai mostly always have a set of giant robots. The first two series didn't. They will usually have one machine each (in some series there were 1, 2 or 3 machines between five members, with some having two, three or all five pilots) and they will combine to make a giant man shaped robot to battle the bad guys. These Machines conform to the theme of each series.
Each series has it's own theme, wether that be time travel, dinosaurs, beasts, rescue, racing cars, etc. and the powers are drawn from these themes. the machines that they use are in relation to these themes, so if the theme is dinosaurs, the 'machines' will likely be in the form of dinosaurs.
Some people will recognise Sentai as a form of Power Rangers. This is in Fact INCORRECT, as Power Rangers is a derivative of Sentai. Sentai is aimed mostly at children but is enjoyed by a large range of ages in Japan.
